I bought this shirt at a thrift store specifically for this project. I wanted to make a summer mini skirt and I wanted the back a little longer than the front so I was really happy I found this beautiful striped shirt!
My photos aren’t that great but this fabric is really beautiful…
I cut the shirt right under the pocket and sewed a casing around for the drawstring. And I carefully cut off the pocket and applied it at an angle which I think makes a big difference.
I really like the end result… what do you think?
I then decided I should make use of the collar and cuffs because I love this fabric and it has fold over cufflink ready cuffs… So, I found a cardigan in my closet that was just the perfect blue.
It is kind of ready for the wash so I am going to wash it then add the collar and cuffs so that the end result will be this –
I guess if I were a bit more organized with this post I would have waited to post it until the sweater was finished and then I think I could have worn the skirt and sweater together for a sweet photo! Oh well, I have quite a few more ideas for up-cycling so I will try to get it together better in future : )
What a great idea!! Thanks for posting 😊
